Mechanical Cherry MX Brown switches and design, appearance & materials

This version uses Cherry MX Brown switches. Keyboards with Cherry MX Brown switches are a compromise between a pure gaming keyboard and an ideal typing keyboard. When pressing the keys, you need to overcome a slight resistance that provides noticeable tactile feedback on actuation. Because the two very closely spaced actuation points can be felt very well, you not only type noticeably faster but can also trigger multiple clicks with very little travel distance in quick succession.

The case of the Ducky One 2 Mini Gaming Keyboard is two-tone: while the top is black, the frame and underside of the keyboard are white. The keycaps are made of polybutylene terephthalate, or PBT for short, manufactured using the double-shot process, and are significantly more durable than keys made from ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene).

It offers a total of twelve different lighting modes, each more elaborate than the last. The special feature of Ducky keyboards lies especially in the completely software-free configuration of the RGB lighting. All settings and changes can be made via various key combinations.

Functions & features of the Ducky One 2 Mini Gaming Keyboard

The very popular mechanical Cherry MX switches are virtually "indestructible" and, depending on the switch used, are optimally suited for different types of gamers. Thanks to USB N-Key Rollover, any number of keys can be pressed simultaneously without "ghosting" or other delays. The 1,000 Hz report rate of the USB connection helps here, sending data from the keyboard to the PC every millisecond. The keyboard features a USB Type-C port where the detachable cable is plugged in, with a typical Type-A connector at the other end. Also convenient are the two rubberised feet on the back, which are height-adjustable in three stages.

The powerful ARM M3 microcontroller of the Ducky One 2 Mini controls and stores the selected LED effects. Additionally, it optimises communication between the keyboard and PC while simultaneously enabling further functions, including the use of macros and profile storage. Besides multimedia functions, Ducky Macro V2.0 also allows control of the mouse pointer via the keyboard.

This compact keyboard layout lacks not only the numeric keypad but also the arrow keys, the block with Insert and Delete keys, as well as Print Screen, Num Lock, and Pause keys. The entire row of function keys (F keys) is also absent. All missing keys have been integrated into the remaining 61 keys and can be activated using the Fn key. This TKL mini, or 60% layout, results in an extremely portable and lightweight keyboard.
